Engage students with nonfiction text skills this winter using this main idea and key detail ornament themed activity.

This reading or writing activity is PERFECT for your primary students! Students can either write their own nonfiction text or recall information from text.

Students will identify a main idea, write key details about it and then draw a picture. Then, students compile their work into either a flip book or a cute Christmas Tree!

We use this for our Holidays Around the World texts, but it can be used with any nonfiction unit in December!

We usually spend 2 weeks making this, but it could easily be modified to be done in one week, or over a few days.
