Make learning about Native Americans engaging and interesting for your students. This Native Americans of the Southeast mini-unit teaches students about the tribes of the region and uses a Native American legend to learn more about a particular tribe of the region and their beliefs.

Students will read an informational passage about the tribes of the Southeast Region and then answer questions.

Read the picture book The First Strawberries by Joseph Bruchac to the class and use some or all of the four worksheets included.  Two of the worksheets are comprehension questions, one is summary writing, and one is a focused reading skill.

This unit is no prep and the perfect way to integrate social studies, reading, and writing.
