Item description

Information and worksheets all about cyclones! Facts and questions to test knowledge, all explained in a really easy to understand way for children. Just print and go, no prior research necessary!

There are three pages full of information and content for students to read through. These pages are visually appealing for children with fun clipart and easy to read fonts.

The following content is explained over these pages:

  • What actually are cyclones?
  • Where do they happen?
  • Why do they happen?
  • When do they happen?
  • What should you do during a cyclone to prepare?
  • What shouldn’t you do?
  • What are the different categories and what do they mean?

There is then a quiz with questions asking the reader to refer back to the texts to find information and an answer sheet is also included for teacher reference when teaching, and for easy marking. This quiz helps them to really go through the information to gain an understanding of what they are reading, helping them to transfer this knowledge into their long term memory – rather than just reading it once and being done with it!

To further encourage this learning transfer, there are then another two worksheets where students need to take their own notes on topics from each prompt box and explain each noted concept in their own words. There is a worksheet with a template for students to record key details and facts about cyclones as a summary of their learning and prompts on how to do so.

There is a cut, paste and sort activity with a table for true and not true statements. An answer sheet is also included for this and all facts that are true can be found within the initial three pages of this packet.

There are then two fun worksheet activities for students to create their own emergency toolkit by drawing and labelling pictures of what they would put in it, using the information page to help them. An answer sheet is included for this as well! The next sheet is for students to devise an emergency cyclone plan, listing what they would do (and in order) if they heard a cyclone was coming tomorrow. All information needed is easily found within the packet!

Your students will love this bundle of worksheets as much as you will – save valuable time, just print and have everything for many fun lessons ready to go.
