Item description

This “no prep” printable reading assessment is part of my American Presidents series. It requires students to close read an informative 1100-word biographical text on 20th-century American president, Richard Nixon. The article presents his life story, beginning with his California roots and service to that state, his time as American Vice-President, and ending with the achievements and disappointment of his presidency, which concluded when he resigned in August 1974 as a result of the Watergate Scandal.

There are 31 assessment questions, including recalling important people, places, and events, sequencing key moments from his life, recognizing cause and effect, and interpreting quotes Richard Nixon made. The assessment work requires a thorough close reading of the text. An additional crossword puzzle to use with early finishers or as an alternative form of assessment is also included with this resource. Please see the Preview to view part of the text and all the assessment questions.

This resource can be used in a number of ways by teachers (close reading, distance learning, direct instruction in class, independent practice, absence work, homework, test prep, assessment, centers, etc).
