Have your students complete this reading/speaking/listening activity using tener expressions in context to help learn them. It is low-prep – just print and it is ready. The students ask and answer questions about what needs different children at their camp have to form groups. While students are answering and asking questions they write down the answers their partner gives for each other the questions. Then, based on their answers they complete the mystery message. This creates an easy way for students to self -check their answers. If their mystery message makes sense, they have the correct answers. If the message does not form a correct Spanish sentence, they need to go back and check their answers.

The tener expressions that are used are: tener calor, tener celos, tener cuidado, tener frío, tener éxito, tener ganas de, tener hambre, tener miedo, tener prisa, tener razón, tener sed, tener sueño and tener suerte.
