Item description

These worksheets are perfect for students practicing light contact and easy onset at the phrase and sentence level. Light contact and easy onset are strategies that can be used to help people who stutter speak more fluently.

This product includes a page where the directions for light contact and easy onset are broken down into steps. It also provides a bookmark of the steps for both easy onset and light contact. Speech Language Pathologists can cut out the bookmarks and give them to their students as a cue to remember to use these skills outside of the speech room. The initial letters of the phrase and sentence worksheets are h (to help teach easy onset), p, b, f, and t.

For each box containing a rock, have your students trace the zigzag line with their finger or favorite color crayon while reading the sentence using hard contact. For each box containing a feather, have your students trace the straight line with their finger or favorite color crayon while reading the sentence using light contact and easy onset. The contrast between hard and soft articulator contact can help students recognize when they are using light contact and easy onset correctly. This will help prepare them to use these strategies when they want to speak more fluently.

It is important to emphasize to your students that stuttering is not wrong. These are merely strategies or tools they can use in situations where they want to speak more fluently.
