Research Charts and Writing Sheets

The resource provides a variety of fun charts and writing aids that students can use during their research or writing project.

K-W-L Chart : Students get to reflect on their learning and write about what they already know about the animal, what they want to learn and then what they did learn. This information can help with their final writing piece.

Can – Have – Are Chart: this allows students to organize their information into three main sections. What “can” the animal do, what does the animal “have” and what they “are”. They can write words and phrases to describe the animal in each of the three sections. Younger students can draw rather than write to make is a visual chart.

They can then use this and the information in their KWL chart to form simple structured sentences to complete their final writing piece using the provided writing sheets that come in 2 lined options. 2 whale page topper options have been provided for those who want to add one to the top of their completed writing sheet!
