Item description
This poster set includes 10 posters (5 Women in Science posters with two border options), each highlighting a significant woman in science. Women highlighted in this poster set include:
Rachel Carson
Jane Goodall
Mae Jemison
Elizabeth Blackwell
Marie Curie
Also included in this resource are eight task cards (which could be used as bell-ringers) featuring quotes from each of the women profiled in this month’s poster set.
These posters are a great way to spark a classroom conversation about prominent women in science. (I hang my posters in my classroom door window. My classroom is located in a “high-traffic” area. I love catching students looking at the posters and discussing them with their peers!
I teach United States History at the high school level. I infuse the contributions of women into the curriculum in various ways, including classroom discussions, videos, readings, etc. These posters are not intended to be the ONLY infusion of women’s contributions into the classroom. They are intended to be a starting point.
Teaching Tips:
I laminate my posters and task cards (to increase longevity and allow students to write responses on task cards using dry-erase markers.)
These posters can also be used to create bulletin board displays. I print my posters on brightly colored paper to create a beautiful bulletin board display.
