Planning a trip to the zoo for some learning in the community, but want to make sure that your special education students have all of the supports they need for a fun and engaging life experience? This field trip unit includes resources and activities to use before, during, and after your outing, including a social narrative, visual schedule cards, file folder games, interactive books, and reflection worksheets.
This field trip resource package includes:
–Matching file folder activity – match the images in the zoo scene
–Reading Comprehension file folder activity – read the “I can see…” sentences and match the pictures of animals
–Zoo Animals interactive (adapted) book – build vocabulary and read the names of the zoo animls and match the pictures
–At the Zoo Create-a-Scene interactive (adapted) book – a unique hands-on book to practice vocabulary and prepositions – read the sentence on each page, and place the moveable piece in the indicated location to create the scene
-EDITABLE and Interactive Social Narrative book – PDF & editable Powerpoint versions are included. *Note that only the text of the social narrative book & booklet are editable*

-First-Then and First-Then-Next boards – use with the included shedule cards to provide visual reminders & prompts for your students
-Location-Specific schedule cards – includes generic cards (e.g. lunch, bathroom, line up) and location-specific cards (e.g. see the lions, watch a show, visit the gift shop)
