David Macaulay is a renowned author and illustrator (The Way Things Work) who over the years has produced a series of very engaging educational films on the history of pyramids, castles, cathedrals, and other places. Many are available to purchase through PBS and most of them are easy to find on YouTube. I have found the animated and historical documentary he created on the Egyptian pyramids to be a wonderful addition to the study of the Ancient Egypt in Grades 5-8. I have yet to find a better overview of this ancient civilization than this one hour video, and I like that it offers much more in the way of Egyptian history than just the pyramids story. I recommend searching “David MacCaulay pyramids” on Google to learn about the book he wrote and for access to the video. This is a 22-question multiple choice quiz that I give after watching the documentary called “Pyramid.” Students watch the video in two parts (0:00-29:00 and then 29:00-End), and to keep them focused I have created this multiple-choice quiz to give after each part. I allow students to take notes during the documentary that they can use on the quiz. This keeps them even more focused! Answers provided. Please note: This is a Word document that can be modified for your needs.
