First aid scenarios and action plan cards

Item description

The first aid scenarios and action plan help you support students in Health, PE and First Aid classes to practice and apply their developing first aid skills. The scenarios are open ended with prompt cards to encourage deeper thinking and planning. The first aid learning should be delivered by a trained and qualified first aid teacher.

What to do: 

1. Print and cut out the first aid scenario cards (there are 40 included). 

2. Share amongst students and ask them to read and think about the scenario and the 2
prompt questions included on the card.

 3. Share the possible response cards or use these to help you demonstrate how to plan
a response. Discuss what to do as well as what to avoid. Highlight how some
responses could be appropriate in some situations but not others (for example getting
into the water could be appropriate for a confident swimmer or lifeguard, but not for
a weaker swimmer or child) 

4. Use the acronym cards if needed to remind students about helpful first aid actions. 

5. Give each student or group an action plan page and ask them to plan their response
to the first aid situation.
6. Bring the group together and discuss solutions, problems and challenges then
reinforce the correct first aid response for each scenario.
