There are 4 activities that address specific skills. Each activity has differentiated instructions for introduction, improvement and mastering each skill.
Activity #1 – Trace the shape with your finger. Add sensory for more fun.
Activity #2 – Make the shape with play dough.
Activity #3 – Cover the shape lines with manipulatives.
Activity #4 – Trace with a tool.
*ALL PAGES CAN BE USED WITH EACH ACTIVITY.
I recommend laminating each page for multiple uses. You can print additional pages to keep a record of progress or send home. Activity #4 is good for this.
*ALL SKILLS USED IN THESE ACTIVITIES ARE ESSENTIAL PRE-WRITING SKILLS.
Each activity has a list of skills that are being addressed along with shape identification, formation, and following directions.
*MOST MATERIALS USED YOU ALREADY HAVE AT HOME.
I try to keep costs low and love reusing things. The list of manipulatives is simply a suggestion. Any small object that your child can pinch to pick up will work. Use what they are interested in, what keeps their attention, align it with the theme you are using. (Fall theme – use pumpkin erasers).
These preschool shapes activities are perfect for centers, student teachers, parent helpers, as morning work, sensory tables, early finishers, small groups, an independent center option, homeschool, preschool, or for a substitute.
